Mobile Backhaul over Fiber

Service Providers currently utilize T1/E1 lines for backhaul which results in extremely high monthly re-occurring T1/E1 fees and service charges for mobile backhaul besides not being adequate for the bandwidth requirements today. With Zhone FiberCell solution, Zhone customers are benefited with the option of copper and/or fiber based Mobile Backhaul options providing cost-effective backhaul bandwidth upgrades.

For fiber-ready cell sites, backhaul network upgrades can be implemented with GPON or AE enabled by the deployed MXK platforms in the operator’s network. Depending upon the network configuration, the transition from EFM to GPON or AE via deployed MXK platforms will enable exponentially more bandwidth capacity than existing alternatives with minimal network investment.
